The Library of Nature has been created to inspire wonder in nature and to highlight the dramatic and rapid changes that have occurred in our world.

Art can include rich ecological information on changes to landscapes and biodiversity and we have curated this collection with a view to making this information more easily available.

The scenes depicted in artworks have been located on a map to connect them to other nearby artworks or known places. Artwork of nearby biodiversity are also displayed in each landscape artwork profile.

Many landscapes no longer exist as they once did. Older works of art are some of the best records to help us understand how we have changed our natural world. We are indebted to the artists, museums, and patrons that have made these artworks publicly available.

We hope viewers find these artworks engaging and are stimulated to explore their relationship with nature.
